Exploring Los Cabos with a stay at Zadún, Ritz-Carlton Reserve

First thing first: Is there a difference in Cabo, Los Cabos and Cabo and Lucas?

This can be confusing at first because many people use the names interchangeably. So let’s talk about it:

Los Cabos is a region that is made up of the cities of Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo as well as the Tourist Corridor that connects the two. In most cases you will hear people simply refer to the entire area as “Cabo.” Los Cabos International Airport is located in San José del Cabo and is where most visitors will fly into regardless of what city you plan on visiting.

Los Cabos, located at the southern tip of Mexico’s Baja California Peninsula and is a dream destination for many travelers. Known for its stunning beaches, crystal-clear waters, vibrant nightlife, art and culture and activities that span from sea to sand.

In San José del Cabo you will find a thriving art scene, quaint boutique shops, and a relaxed atmosphere compared to its livelier neighbor, Cabo San Lucas.

One of the most iconic landscapes in this area is what is commonly referred to as Land’s End. Land’s End is the location of El Arco which is a notable rock formation that rises from the sea at the very tip of the Baja California Peninsula off the coast of Cabo San Lucas. In addition to its beauty, El Arco marks the spot where the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez (Gulf of California) meet. If you are visiting this area for the first time then you don’t want to skip a paddle board, boat ride or even parasailing to get up close and personal with El Arco.

But Cabo isn’t just about relaxing on the beach. It’s also a hub for adventure, with opportunities for deep-sea fishing, zip-lining, and ATV rides through the desert. The town itself is lively, with plenty of shops, restaurants, and bars to explore. And of course, no trip to Mexico would be complete without a tequila tasting (or two)! Cabo San Lucas is particularly famous for its nightlife, making it a popular spot for both family vacations and trips with friends.

A Note on Swimming in the Ocean in Los Cabos: And while basking in the sun or taking a walk on the beach should always be on your agenda when visiting Los Cabos, you want to keep in mind that not all beaches are swimmable. While they may be beautiful, they can be very dangerous due to the rip currents. There are signs and warnings posted so just pay attention. If swimming in the ocean is on your list of to-do’s, we recommend to do your research to make sure you are staying in an area that swimming is permitted (and safe).

Our primary focus for this trip was pure “Rest and Relaxation” so we chose to stay at a place that specializes in just that! Let me introduce you to Zadún!

A Luxurious Retreat at Zadún, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Los Cabos

Nestled along the breathtaking coast of San José del Cabo, Zadún, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, offers an unparalleled luxury retreat that redefines opulence and relaxation. From the moment you arrive, the resort’s stunning architecture, inspired by the natural beauty of Baja California, captivates you with its blend of modern elegance and traditional Mexican charm.

What truly sets Zadún apart is its commitment to personalized service. The staff goes above and beyond to ensure that every guest’s experience is tailored to their preferences. We were greeted at the airport and escorted to the report where we assigned a personal attendant (or Tosoani) upon arrival.

Tosoani is a word that comes from Nahuatl and means Dream Watcher. This Granter of Wishes is available around the clock to arrange any desired amenity or service throughout your stay at Zadún.

From the moment we arrived to the resort, our Tosoani was at our beck and call! All it took was a simple text and they seem to appear out of nowhere. From arranging private excursions to crafting unforgettable dining experiences, the level of detail was unlike any other. It’s this dedication to exceptional service that makes Zadún not just a place to stay, but a destination to remember.

The accommodations at Zadún are nothing short of spectacular. Each room, suite, and villa offers expansive views of the Sea of Cortez, with private terraces that invite you to soak in the serene surroundings. The attention to detail is impeccable, from the hand-crafted furnishings to the locally inspired decor, the space felt both luxurious and authentic. The enormous patio with private plunge pool made us feel like we never needed to leave our suite. And by taking advantage of in room dining, there were times when we didn’t!

The resort’s amenities are designed to indulge and rejuvenate. If you plan on spending your days lounging by the infinity pool, they have you covered…. Literally! They have sun hats in your room, coolers delivered to your lounge chairs stocked with iced waters and even sunscreen if you happen to forget to bring your own. Now if you are looking for a more active experience, you can explore the nearby desert dunes on an ATV tour or enjoy a round of golf at the world-class Puerto Los Cabos golf course.

Activities are scheduled throughout your visit and provided on a customized schedule. During our stay we enjoyed a 4th of July celebration and ended the night with a spectacular firework show! There were other surprises throughout our stay. My favorite was coming back to our room after a nice dinner to find our turn down service included a candlelit warm bath that was drawn and ready when we walked in the door! I was really impressed on the timing and how they pulled that off!

Dining at Zadún is a culinary journey that celebrates the rich flavors of Mexican cuisine. Humo, the resort’s signature restaurant, offers a sophisticated dining experience with a menu that highlights local ingredients and innovative techniques. For a more casual setting, El Barrio serves up traditional Mexican street food in a vibrant and festive atmosphere. And whether we were eating pool side or opting for a more formal setting, every meal was outstanding.

Grandma’s Special Breakfast

A visit to the resort’s Alkemia Spa is a must, especially if you are really searching out some R&R! Included with any spa treatment is use of the entire facility which includes a luxurious mineral pool with hydrotherapy features as well as hot and cold contrasting bathing pools. We booked their 90 minute Signature Massage and took advantage of every ammenity! Plan your visit so that you have plenty of time to enjoy the entire facility as it is really like a resort within a resort!

Whether you’re seeking adventure, relaxation, or a bit of both, Zadún, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, offers an unforgettable escape in one of Mexico’s most enchanting destinations. This would rank as one of the most luxurious resort experiences we have had to date and will definitely be back!
